Domiciliary hospitalization refers to medical treatment taken at home for a prolonged illness, which otherwise would require hospitalization in a medical facility. It is a type of health insurance policy that covers the medical expenses incurred by a policyholder who is unable to receive treatment in a hospital due to medical reasons.
Under this policy, the insured person can receive medical treatment at home, including nursing care, medication, and medical equipment, which would otherwise require hospitalization. The policy usually covers the cost of a medical practitioner's visit, nursing care, diagnostic tests, medicines, and medical equipment needed for the treatment.
To be eligible for domiciliary hospitalization, the insured person must fulfill certain conditions, such as having a medical condition that requires prolonged treatment at home, which cannot be treated in a hospital due to a lack of bed availability or the unavailability of specialized treatment.
