Overview

IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus is a term insurance plan designed to provide comprehensive financial protection.

Key Features

  • Plan Variants: Life and Life Plus.
  • Entry and Maturity Age: Entry starts at 18 years. Depending on the variant and policy configuration, coverage can continue up to age 85.
  • Sum Assured: The minimum cover is ₹50 lakh, with no stated maximum, subject to underwriting and applicable eligibility criteria.
  • InstaPayout: The plan provides an immediate payout of ₹1 lakh within two working days after a claim registration, subject to the applicable conditions.
  • Enhanced Coverage Benefit: Policyholders can increase their cover following eligible life events, such as marriage, childbirth or legal adoption, or taking a home loan, without undergoing fresh underwriting, subject to policy conditions.
  • Flexible Death Benefit Payout: The nominee can receive the death benefit as a lump sum, monthly income for 10 years, or a combination of both.

Super Suraksha Plus by IndusInd Nippon Life Insurance combines core term protection with life-stage cover increases, flexible claim payouts, and an InstaPayout feature. But with multiple options available, the real question is whether these features justify choosing it over larger, more established term insurers.

This guide covers IndusInd Nippon policy details, including eligibility, features, riders, the insurer's track record, and whether the term plan meets your family's needs.

What Is IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus?

IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus is a non-linked, non-participating individual life insurance plan offering two variants.

IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus Plan Variants

    • Life Variant (Variant 1): If the life assured dies during the policy term while the policy is in force, the applicable death benefit is paid to the nominee. The policy terminates after the death benefit is paid.
    • Life Plus Variant (Variant 2): If the life assured dies during the policy term, the applicable death benefit is paid, and the policy terminates. If the life assured survives until maturity, 100% of total premiums paid (excluding rider premiums) is payable as the maturity benefit.

Note: At Ditto, we do not recommend return of premium plans because they can cost 60% to 100% more than regular term plans. While getting your premiums back may sound attractive, the refund does not generate returns. Over a long policy term, inflation can significantly reduce that amount's purchasing power.

How Does IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus Work?

You choose the Life or Life Plus variant, select your desired sum assured and policy term, and pay premiums as scheduled. If the life insured dies during the policy term, the nominee receives the applicable death benefit, subject to policy terms.

In case you survive the policy term and you opted for the Life Plus variant, base premiums will be returned, subject to policy terms and conditions.

Features and Add-Ons Available With IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus

    • Death Benefit: If the life assured dies during the policy term while the policy is in force, the nominee receives the applicable death benefit.
    • Death Payout Options: You can choose a lump sum, regular income, or a combination of both, depending on the option selected.
    • InstaPayout Benefit: After completing three policy years from the risk commencement date or revival date, whichever is later, an accelerated ₹1 lakh payout is made within two working days of claim registration, provided you submit all mandatory documents. For accidental death, InstaPayout becomes available after one policy year from risk commencement/revival, subject to conditions.
    • Enhanced Coverage Benefit: The plan allows additional coverage of 25% of the base sum assured on first marriage, birth or legal adoption of the first child, and birth or legal adoption of the second child. For a home loan taken after policy commencement, the increase can be 50% of the base sum assured or the loan amount, whichever is lower.

Note: The enhanced coverage benefit is only available with the Life variant and can be exercised only when the life assured's attained age is below 45 years, subject to the applicable policy terms and conditions. This option can be exercised within 180 days of the specified event.

Riders Available

    • Accidental Death Benefit Rider: Provides an additional payout if the life insured dies due to a qualifying accident, subject to the rider's terms and conditions. The rider is recommended only if you have high accident exposure or are a frequent traveler.
    • Accidental Death & Disability Rider: Pays the additional rider sum assured on qualifying accidental death. If the life assured suffers accidental total and permanent disability, the rider sum assured is paid in 10 equal annual installments, subject to the rider terms. The rider is not recommended as it offers no premium waiver after disability.
    • Accidental Death & Disability Plus Rider: Covers qualifying accidental death and accidental total and permanent disability. After an accepted disability claim, the rider sum assured is paid in 10 equal annual installments, while future premiums for the base policy and attached riders are waived. The rider can be opted for disability coverage, income replacement, and premium waiver benefits. However, it cannot be combined with the enhanced coverage benefit.
    • Critical Illness Rider: Pays a lump sum upon diagnosis of a covered Critical Illness (CI). The rider covers 25 specified illnesses, with a 90-day waiting period that resets upon revival. It also has a 30-day survival period and can be opted for a rider term of 5 to 15 years. At Ditto, we recommend considering this rider as it provides much-needed financial protection against major medical crises.

Note: Rider selection and addition are subject to the plan's terms and conditions. Not all riders can be selected together, so choose them carefully based on the available combinations and your specific protection needs.

Cons of Super Suraksha Plus

Background Image

01

Enhanced Cover has Limited Availability

It is available only with the regular pay plus Life variant configuration, reducing flexibility for buyers choosing other options.

02

CI Covers Only 25 Illnesses

The Critical Illness Rider offers useful protection but is narrower than some competing plans with broader illness coverage.

03

No broad CI-based Premium Waiver

Premium waiver is primarily linked to qualifying accidental total and permanent disability rather than a wider range of critical illnesses.

04

ROP Costs Significantly More

The Life Plus variant increases premiums substantially, potentially reducing the amount of life cover you can afford.

05

No Terminal Illness Acceleration

The base plan does not offer a dedicated terminal illness payout, unlike some competing term plans like ICICI Prudential iProtect Smart Plus.

Who Should Buy IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus?

Who Should Consider ItWho Should Avoid It
Young professionals aged 25–40 planning marriage, children, or a home purchase can benefit from enhanced coverage as their financial responsibilities grow.People looking for more established, well-known insurers with feature-rich plans, including wellness benefits and a broader range of riders for greater customization and flexibility.
Healthy standard risk buyers seeking substantial pure term cover can consider the Life variant if the premium remains competitive after underwriting.Buyers seeking terminal illness acceleration may prefer plans that provide a dedicated benefit for early financial support after diagnosis.
Buyers wanting flexible nominee payouts can consider the plan, since death benefits can be structured as a lump sum, income, or both.Buyers wanting broad CI and waiver of premium protection may find the rider structure less comprehensive than plans offering stronger health-related benefits.
Buyers needing accidental disability or moderate CI protection can consider the relevant riders after checking coverage definitions, exclusions, and pricing.Budget-conscious buyers wanting maximum life cover should be cautious with Life Plus because higher ROP premiums can reduce the affordable base cover.

Conclusion

From a product perspective, IndusInd Nippon Super Suraksha Plus offers useful protection features, but it misses some modern benefits such as cover continuance. It can work for specific buyers, but stronger alternatives may offer a more complete experience.

From an insurer's perspective, its claim settlement metrics and customer service are encouraging. However, IndusInd Nippon Life remains below our ₹5,000 crore annual business-volume benchmark.

At Ditto, we would prefer to wait and watch as the insurer scales and builds a longer track record. For stronger overall insurer fundamentals, consider the best term insurance plans from established insurers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus a good term plan for long-term protection?

IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus may suit buyers seeking long-term life protection with flexible payout options and life-stage cover enhancement. However, suitability depends on premium, underwriting, policy features, and insurer-level metrics. Compare it with established insurers before deciding, especially if you prioritize broader rider options or stronger insurer scale.

Does IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus return 100% of my premiums if I survive the policy term?

Yes, but only under the Life Plus variant. If you survive until maturity and meet the applicable conditions, the plan pays a maturity benefit equal to 100% of total premiums paid. However, the premiums returned exclude rider premiums and any underwriting costs. The amount returned gains no interest or capital appreciation.

How quickly does IndusInd Nippon Life pay the ₹1 lakh InstaPayout to a nominee after a death claim?

Under the applicable InstaPayout feature, ₹1 lakh is paid within two working days after claim registration, provided the policy has completed the required three-year period and all mandatory documents have been submitted. This is an accelerated portion of the death benefit, not an additional ₹1 lakh over and above the total claim amount. For accidental death, InstaPayout becomes available after one policy year from risk commencement/revival, subject to policy conditions.

Can I increase my Super Suraksha Plus cover after marriage or the birth of a child?

Yes. The enhanced coverage benefit allows eligible policyholders to increase their cover after specified life events such as marriage or childbirth. The plan allows an additional 25% of the sum assured, up to ₹25 lakh, after the first marriage, birth, or legal adoption of the first child, and after the birth or legal adoption of the second child, subject to applicable terms and conditions. However, you must select this option when buying the policy, and you can exercise it only while the life assured is below the specified age limit, subject to applicable policy conditions.

What is the longest policy term available under IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus?

The plan offers a maximum policy term of 50 years, making it particularly relevant for younger buyers who want long-duration income protection. The actual available term depends on factors such as entry age, chosen variant, premium payment option, and applicable policy conditions.

Which limited premium payment terms can I choose under IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus?

The available premium payment options depend on the configuration selected, including regular and limited payment structures. For the Life variant under limited pay, premium payment terms are available for 5, 7, 10, and 15 years. The Life Plus variant under limited pay is available for 5, 7, 10, 15, and 20 years.

Does IndusInd Nippon Life Super Suraksha Plus offer tax benefits?

Eligible health-related rider premiums may qualify separately under Section 126 (previously Section 80D). Death benefits are tax-exempt under Section 11, previously Section 10(10D), subject to applicable conditions.
