Frequently Asked Questions

Which has a higher Incurred Claim Ratio (ICR), ICICI Life or Bajaj Life Insurance?

ICICI Life and Bajaj Life Insurance have different claim and business profiles. However, the Incurred Claim Ratio (ICR) is not a standard metric for comparing life insurers, as it is primarily used in health and general insurance. Bajaj General recorded an average ICR of 82.18% from FY 2022–25, compared with 79.47% for ICICI Lombard. For term insurance, compare their claim settlement ratios, amount settlement ratios, and solvency ratios instead.  For FY 2024-26, ICICI Life Insurance claim settlement ratio is almost similar to Bajaj Life Insurance claim settlement ratio.

Has Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance been renamed Bajaj Life Insurance, and do existing policies stay the same?

Yes. Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance was renamed Bajaj Life Insurance following the change in its branding. Existing policies continue under their original contractual terms and conditions. Policyholders should review official communications from the insurer for details about the name change and any administrative updates that may affect policy servicing.

Are term insurance premiums lower with ICICI Life or Bajaj Life Insurance for a 30-year-old?

iProtect Smart Plus offers a slightly lower annual premium of ₹19,283 compared with ₹20,304 for eTouch II for a 30-year-old. The comparison assumes ₹2 crore in term cover until age 65, excluding first-year discounts. Premiums depend on factors such as the sum assured, policy term, smoking status, health, occupation, and selected benefits. Neither ICICI Life nor Bajaj Life Insurance is always cheaper for a 30-year-old.

Does ICICI Life or Bajaj Life Insurance offer better critical illness and accidental death riders?

Both insurers offer additional protection options, but their benefits and limits differ. ICICI iProtect Smart Plus offers critical illness cover and an accidental death benefit, subject to policy conditions. Bajaj Life eTouch II also offers these options, with coverage limits and eligibility varying by variant. Compare covered illnesses, payout limits, waiting periods, and exclusions.

How do ICICI Life and Bajaj Life Insurance compare on claim turnaround and customer service?

Claim turnaround depends on the verification requirements and the nature of the claim. However, under IRDAI’s 2024 policyholder protection framework, life insurers must settle or reject a death claim within 15 days of receiving all required documents and clarifications if no investigation is needed. If an investigation is required, it must be completed within 45 days of claim intimation. Bajaj Life recorded 2.77 complaints per 10,000 claims, compared with ICICI Life’s 8.00, indicating a lower complaint volume between FY2024 and FY2026.
