Overview
Nobody wants their life cover to lapse over something as fixable as a missed payment, but it happens more often than you would think: a card expires, an old bank account gets closed, or a due date simply slips your mind.
The good news is that Bajaj Life Insurance premium payment is quick to sort out, whether you're paying on time or trying to catch up after a missed one.
This guide covers every way to complete your Bajaj Life Insurance premium payment either online or offline. We also break down how to set up auto-debit so this never comes up again, how to download your receipt for tax filing, and exactly what happens if a payment slips past the due date.
What Is Bajaj Life Insurance Premium Payment?
Premium payment is simply the amount you pay Bajaj Life on a set schedule, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly, to keep your policy active and your cover in place. You can pay it online in a couple of minutes, set it to happen automatically, or pay in person at a branch or partner bank if you prefer that route.

How to Pay Bajaj Life Insurance Premium via Auto-Debit or NACH?
Auto-debit removes the need to remember due dates altogether, and Bajaj Life offers three ways to set it up:
- A bank account NACH mandate
- A UPI mandate (for policies with a mandate amount up to ₹15,000)
- An e-mandate on your credit card.
To register a bank NACH mandate:
- Authenticate your policy details using your policy number and date of birth.
- Select your preferred debit date (optional) and registration mode.
- Choose your bank from the list provided.
- Enter your bank account number and click "Register Now".
- Log in with your net banking credentials to complete authorization.
- You'll get an on-screen confirmation once the bank verifies the mandate.
- From then on, premiums are debited automatically on your due date or preferred date.
The UPI mandate process is nearly identical, except you provide your UPI ID instead of bank details, and you approve the registration request directly in your UPI app rather than logging into net banking.
Credit card standing instructions work the same way too, with an OTP from your card-issuing bank completing the setup.
If you want to switch which bank account or card gets debited, you can register a fresh mandate with the new details through the same process. There's no need to cancel the old one manually since a new registration supersedes it.

- Log in to the Life Assist portal using your registered mobile number or email ID.

- Download the receipt as a PDF.
What Happens if You Miss a Bajaj Life Insurance Premium Payment
Missing your due date doesn't immediately affect your cover. You first get a grace period: 15 days if you pay monthly, 30 days for quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly modes, during which your policy stays fully active, and any claim would still be honored (after deducting due premium).
If the grace period passes without payment, the policy lapses, meaning your cover stops and no claim can be made against it.
That said, Bajaj Life still allows you to pay with interest for a further period, up to 6 months from the original due date, without needing extra paperwork. After that 180-day mark, reviving the policy requires submitting a Declaration of Good Health and, depending on how long it's been, possibly a fresh medical check. It is wise to first thoroughly check how to revive a policy.
You cannot split an overdue premium into partial payments. The full outstanding amount is due at once to bring the policy current again.
Bajaj Life Insurance Grace Period and Revival Rules
To summarize the timeline, firstly you get 15 or 30 days of grace depending on your payment mode. Exact revival terms, including how long the window stays open for different plan types, are laid out in your specific policy document, so it's worth checking that if you're several months past due.
Non-linked policies like a term plan can be revived within five years of the first unpaid premium, ULIPs within three years. After that, the policy cannot be revived at all. You will have to buy fresh cover at your current age, which for most people is materially more expensive and possibly unavailable if your health has changed.
