Overview
A ₹10 lakh health insurance cover can disappear faster than you would expect, especially after one expensive hospitalization. And if another claim comes up in the same policy year, your remaining cover may not be enough.
That’s where Aditya Birla Health Insurance’s Super Reload feature helps. Available under the Activ One plan series, it restores your sum insured after you use it, giving you additional coverage for subsequent claims.
But the benefit doesn't work the same across every Activ One variant. So, in this guide, we explain how Super Reload works, when it becomes available, and what you should check before relying on it.
What Is Aditya Birla Health Insurance Super Reload?
Super Reload is an unlimited restoration benefit. From the second hospitalization onward, if your base Sum Insured (SI) and accumulated Super Credit (bonus) are partially or fully exhausted, Super Reload restores 100% of the SI for eligible claims.
However, unlimited reload does not mean unlimited payout for a single hospitalization. It means your base cover can be restored multiple times during the policy year, subject to how the plan allows it to be used. Aditya Birla is one of the few insurers that allow you to use your restoration, base, and bonus sum insured together, unlike most other insurers, which only let you use the restoration sum insured.
Let’s understand this with the help of an example.
- Base Sum Insured = ₹15 lakh
- First Hospitalization Claim = ₹10 lakh
- Leftover Base Sum Insured (₹5 lakh) + Super Reload (Restoration Sum Insured ₹15 lakh) = ₹20 lakh
So, for the second hospitalization, you can use up to ₹20 lakh in one go. Any amount beyond that must be paid out of pocket.
How the Aditya Birla Super Reload Benefit Works and Which Plans Offer It?
Here is how Super Reload works across the primary plans:
- Activ One MAX: The Super Reload feature in MAX activates from the second hospitalization onwards in a single policy year, by adding 100% of your base SI to your available cover. Since this restoration amount is available unlimited times for a related or unrelated illness, you get an additional 100% of your base SI for any subsequent hospitalization in that policy year.
- Activ One NXT: Super Reload features work a bit differently in Activ One NXT. It offers the restoration amount from day one, so essentially you have 2x cover from day 1. This gives you higher protection upfront.
Note: The restoration feature under the Activ Yuva plan is called Yuva Reload. Activ Yuva also offers 2x cover from day one, meaning your first claim automatically gets double the sum insured (₹15 lakh becomes ₹30 lakh), and for subsequent claims in the same policy year, it restores 100% of your base cover multiple times for any illness. However, this feature does not apply when you select the Unlimited Sum Insured option.
Let’s take a look at some sample illustrations from Activ One MAX to understand how these benefits work in real life for a ₹10 lakh base sum insured.
Note: In Activ One MAX, once you activate the Super Reload feature, you get an extra 100% of SI each year for all future policy years.

Pros & Cons of Aditya Birla Health Insurance Super Reload
Pros:
- You can combine your base sum, bonus (Super Credit), and reload to pay one large hospital bill.
- The feature is activated for life. For MAX, it is activated once triggered, and for NXT, it is active from day one.
Cons: Under Activ One MAX, Super Reload cannot be used for the first claim in the life of the policy, unlike NXT and Yuva plans from the same insurer. It becomes available only for future claims.

Conclusion
Aditya Birla’s Super Reload is a strong restoration benefit, particularly because it can be combined with your base cover and Super Credit for a single eligible claim. And under plans like Activ One MAX, once the benefit is triggered, it stays active for the lifetime of the policy.
But restoration should ideally work as a backup, not as a substitute for an adequate base sum insured (at least ₹15 lakh to ₹25 lakh). The way Super Reload kicks in also varies across Activ One variants, so it is worth checking when the benefit becomes available and how much cover you can actually use for a single hospitalization.
More importantly, don’t choose a health insurance plan for restoration alone. Your base cover, waiting periods, room-rent restrictions, underwriting, premiums, and other core benefits should carry more weight in the final decision.
