Overview of ReAssure 3.0 Classic

Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Classic is the entry-level variant, offering ₹5 lakh, ₹10 lakh, and unlimited sum insured options. It covers hospitalization, eligible home and domiciliary treatment, and related medical expenses for 60 days before and 180 days after hospitalization. For the ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh options, the plan also includes ReAssure Forever and Booster+, which can strengthen your available cover over time. The main distinction is the room eligibility: Classic covers a general room, while listed modern treatments are covered up to ₹1 lakh per complete claim. Classic can make sense if a general room works for you and the premium fits your budget. If the price difference with Niva Bupa ReAssure Black is small for your profile, it is worth comparing the two for the additional room and treatment flexibility.

Classic retains several useful features of ReAssure 3.0. The 60 days of pre-hospilatization and 180-day post-hospitalization cover gives you a longer window for eligible follow-up expenses, while home care and domiciliary treatment benefits add flexibility when treatment at home meets the policy conditions. For the ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh base covers, the first paid claim activates ReAssure Forever for subsequent claims and it can be used repeatedly and continues across renewals without a break. Booster+ separately carries forward unused base cover, accumulating up to 10 times the base sum insured.

The restrictions deserve attention. Classic covers a general ward, and choosing a higher room category triggers a co-payment on the entire claim. Listed modern treatments have a ₹1 lakh cap per complete claim, even if you choose unlimited cover. Classic also leaves out a few benefits available in the higher variants. Air ambulance cover and Niva Bupa’s flagship Lock the Clock feature are not included in the base plan. Road ambulance expenses are capped at ₹2,000 per hospitalization, and cataract lens coverage is restricted to monofocal lenses.

Classic can work if general ward accommodation suits you and the premium savings are meaningful. But before deciding, compare Black variant’s premium for your age, family composition, and medical history, using the same sum insured and relevant add-ons. If Black is comfortably priced for your profile, its unrestricted room eligibility and broader treatment and ambulance cover make it worth considering.

Co-payment

The insurer will bear the entire cost of treatment (up to the sum insured). You won't have to pay a single penny. Meaning this policy has no co-payment.

Customisable

Get discount on premiums with 20% Co-payment for the insured members if treatment is taken in Non-Tiered Network Hospitals.

Customisable

Choose a co-payment between 10% and 50% to reduce premiums.

Customisable

Room Rent

Tough luck if you are thinking about opting for a single private room. Because the policy only lets you stay in a general room. If you still want to pick a better room, then be ready to pay a lot more when the final bill shows up.

Disease sub-limit

Your insurance cover won’t be fully available in case you are treated for modern treatments or for cataracts. Meaning the insurance company has a cap of 1L on the total amount they’ll pay out if you are treated for these specific illnesses.

Pre existing diseases waiting

If you're already dealing with diabetes, cardiovascular problems or any such illnesses, the insurer will cover all costs arising out of these pre-existing problems after you wait for 3 years.

Customisable

For any illness: Pre existing disease waiting period is modified/reduced from 3 years to 1 or 2 years.

Pre/Post hospitalization

No worries if the doctor had to run a host of diagnostic tests before or after hospitalizing you. The insurer has your back. They will cover this amount in full for a pretty reasonable duration - 60 days before you are hospitalized and 180 days after discharge. This includes the cost of medication by the way.
