Digit's latest public disclosure shows Digit Health Care Plus covering 221,880 lives across 202,968 policies, a figure that sounds impressive at first glance. But big numbers tell only part of the story, as these numbers work out to just over one life per policy on average, so most of this cover is bought individually rather than as large family floaters.

This Digit Health Care Plus review breaks down what you actually get, how Digit performs on claims, and whether this plan is the right fit for you.

What Is Digit Health Care Plus?

Digit Health Care Plus is not a comprehensive plan by default. It is a build-your-own health policy from Go Digit Health Insurance. You pick sections for hospital bills, maternity, Outpatient Department (OPD), critical illness, cancer, or cash payouts. Hence, your final coverage depends only on what appears in your policy schedule. Let's have a look at the basic details of the plan.

Digit Health Care Plus: 30 Selectable Coverage Sections

01

Hospitalization Section

Covers room rent, ICU charges, doctor's fees, and other inpatient costs, up to the sum insured you pick for this section. It also has two sub-sections, one being only accidental hospitalization and one including illness hospitalization cover.

02

Sum Insured Refill

If your cover runs out during the year, this section refills it so you are not left without protection mid-year. 100% restoration applies to both the same and different illnesses. It is available upon complete exhaustion and has a 45-day cooling period if used for the same illness.

03

No Claim Bonus Benefit

If you stay claim-free in a policy year, you can choose between two options. A cumulative bonus, which increases your sum insured at renewal, or a no claim discount on your renewal premium, but not both. Either benefit is capped at the limit set in your policy schedule and resets if you make a claim.

04

Unused Sum Insured Benefit

At renewal, up to 100% of your unused base sum insured (your sum insured minus any claims made) carries forward and adds to your new sum insured. Choosing this cover means you forgo the cumulative bonus benefit.

05

Maternity Benefit

Sum insured ranges from ₹10,000 to ₹5 lakh, covering up to two childbirth events and unlimited medically necessary terminations. This is subject to your chosen waiting period and your spouse being covered as well.

06

Newborn Baby Cover

Covers the newborn's treatment, complications, and vaccinations after delivery, with vaccination cover extending up to age 5 if the policy is renewed continuously.

07

OPD Benefit

Covers doctor's consultations, diagnostics, minor outpatient procedures, medication, and limited dental treatment from a network practitioner, without needing hospitalization. You can choose no copayment or a reducing copayment (25% in year one, 10% on first renewal, nil from the second renewal).

08

Fastrack

Covers hospitalization for select declared pre-existing conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and thyroid disorders, after just 30 days from your policy start date instead of the usual PED waiting period.

Please Note: This is not an exhaustive list of features and benefits. For more details, please refer to the prospectus

Digit Health Care Plus Waiting Periods and Customization

Specific Illness Waiting PeriodNone, 3 months, 6 months, 1, or 2 years

Cancer BenefitNone, 30, 60, or 90 days

Key Insights

  1. Choosing "no wait" is an available option, not a free default. It usually raises your premium and still depends on underwriting
  2. The specified disease wait also applies to a broad list of conditions, including cataract, hernia, arthritis, and joint replacement.
  3. Increasing your sum insured also restarts waiting periods, but only on the increased portion.

Have a look at the premium illustration below.

Digit Health Care Plus Premium Illustration

Note: These premiums are indicative, based on a ₹5 lakh SI for healthy individuals. Your actual premium may vary based on the selected covers, age, medical history, underwriting, and location.

In simple terms, for a family of 2 adults (aged 51 and 48) and 2 children (aged 22 and 18), each covered for ₹5 lakh: buying four separate individual policies costs ₹21,713 in total. Buying one policy that still gives each member their own ₹5 lakh limit costs ₹19,541, after a 10% discount for combining them. Buying one family floater policy, where all four members share a single ₹5 lakh pool, costs the least at ₹14,568. The floater is cheaper, but remember everyone draws from the same sum insured.

Conclusion

Digit Health Care Plus stands out for its sheer flexibility. 30 selectable sections, adjustable waiting periods, and sum insured options that go well beyond most standardized plans give buyers real room to shape their own cover.

That flexibility comes with a catch, though. Since your final cover depends entirely on what you pick, this isn't a plan to configure without checking the schedule closely. The gaps between Digit's website, prospectus, and disclosures make it even more important to confirm every figure directly with Digit before you buy, especially since the plan isn't currently sold through the website itself.

On the insurer's side, Digit's claim settlement ratio holds up well against the industry average, and its complaint volume remains low. That said, its network of 9,000+ hospitals falls a little short of the recommended benchmark, and its overall health business is still smaller than more established insurers, a reasonable trade-off if you're comfortable with a newer, fast-growing insurer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Digit Health Care Plus a good health insurance plan in 2026?

Digit Health Care Plus plan is a flexible policy with 30 selectable sections and a claim settlement ratio above the industry average. It suits buyers comfortable configuring their own cover, but its complexity and documentation gaps mean you should confirm every detail with Digit before buying, rather than relying on the website alone.

Can I customize the waiting period under Digit Health Care Plus?

Yes, this Digit Health Care Plus policy lets you customize waiting periods across sections. You can choose the pre-existing disease wait from no wait to 3 years, and the maternity wait from no wait to 4 years. Choosing no wait isn't automatic, though. It usually raises your premium and depends on underwriting.

What is Go Digit's claim settlement ratio compared to established insurers?

Go Digit Health Insurance reports a claim settlement ratio of 99%, higher than the industry average of 92.02%, a strong number for a relatively newer insurer. It is also because, since it’s a new insurer, it is easier to maintain a higher ratio. Its complaint volume also runs well below average. Still, compare this against established players before deciding, since claim settlement ratio alone doesn't capture the full picture.

Does Digit Health Care Plus cover infertility treatment and maternity?

Yes, this Digit Health Care Plus policy includes separate sections for infertility treatment (covering IVF, IUI, and similar procedures) and maternity benefits, with sum insured options from ₹10,000 to ₹5,00,000. Both are subject to waiting periods you select, and maternity also requires your spouse to be covered unless waived.

How fast does Go Digit settle cashless health insurance claims?

Go Digit reports that close to 60% of cashless preauthorization requests are approved within 20 minutes and 82.9% within 30 minutes. It also reports that 86.4% of discharge approvals are completed within 90 minutes. These are insurer-reported turnaround figures, and actual processing time can vary by hospital, documents, treatment, and case complexity.

What are the 16 base covers included in Digit Health Care Plus?

The 16-base covers structure was used in an older version of the Digit Health Care Plus policy. The current prospectus offers 30 selectable sections instead, spanning hospitalization, maternity, OPD, critical illness, cancer, and cash benefits. Always check the latest Digit Health Care Plus policy brochure before assuming older feature counts still apply.

Who should buy the Digit Health Care Plus plan?

This Digit Health Care Plus plan suits buyers with specific needs, such as maternity, OPD, or critical illness cover, who are comfortable building their policy section by section with expert guidance. It's less suited to those wanting a simple, standardized plan or guaranteed in-house claims handling instead of a third-party administrator.
