Quick Overview
The Super Star Plan isn't a one-size-fits-all product. Your premium depends on your age, the city you live in, the sum insured you pick, and whether you've added any optional covers. Two people buying the same plan can end up paying very different amounts, and that can be confusing.
This article explains how the Star Health Super Star premium chart works, what the prospectus illustrations show, how to use Star Health’s calculator, and what affects your final premium.
What Does the Star Health Super Star Premium Chart Show?
Star Health does not publish a separate, downloadable premium chart PDF for the Super Star Plan. The official prospectus (UIN: SHAHLIP25036V012425) includes a benefit and premium illustration section that provides sample figures for common profiles.
These illustrations are the closest thing to a premium chart. They show how the base premium varies by age band, sum insured, and zone. Your actual premium can be higher depending on your health history and any optional covers you add.
The prospectus is available on the Star Health website under the Super Star Plan's documents section.

Factors That Affect Star Health Super Star Premium
- Age: A 25-year-old pays nearly half of what a 45-year-old pays for the same cover. The Super Star Plan has a standout feature called Freeze Your Age, where your premium stays locked at your age when you first buy the policy until the first claim is made or the insured attains 56 years, whichever comes first.
- Location: Your place of residence at the time of purchase also impacts your premiums. Seeking treatment in a tier 1 city is more expensive than in a tier 2 city. The Super Star Plan uses three pricing zones based on your location.
Note: You can check the complete zone division details in the prospectus.
- Sum Insured: The plan offers ₹5 lakh, ₹7.5 lakh, ₹10 lakh, ₹15 lakh, ₹20 lakh, ₹25 lakh, ₹50 lakh, ₹1 crore, and unlimited sum insured. For customers aged 65 and above, the maximum available sum insured is ₹ 50 lakh. A higher sum insured increases your premium, but the cost per additional lakh reduces as you go higher.
- Policy Structure: In individual policies, premiums are calculated based on the insured person’s completed age. For family floater plans, premiums are generally based on the age of the eldest member. This structure helps make family coverage more affordable compared to purchasing separate individual policies. The plan allows adding 2 adults and up to 4 children to a floater policy.
- Discounts: The plan has several ways to lower your premium. Buying online saves you 5%, a high Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited (CIBIL) score can unlock up to 15% off, and answering the lifestyle questionnaire at the time of purchase gives you another 10%. The Star Wellness Program can give you up to 20% off at renewal through the app.
- Medical History and Underwriting: If any insured member has pre-existing diseases, lifestyle risks, or past medical conditions, the insurer may apply a loading (additional premium) after medical underwriting. This helps insurers price policies based on individual health risk.
- Add-ons Chosen: Optional covers significantly change your final premium. The most commonly added ones include annual health check-up (up to 1% of SI, max ₹25,000), limitless care (covers one claim without any sum insured cap), super star bonus (guaranteed cumulative bonus regardless of claims), quick shield (waives the pre-existing disease waiting period for conditions like diabetes and hypertension), and maternity cover (with 12 or 24-month waiting period options).
