Quick Overview
There are over 31 insurance companies offering health insurance in India today, but what makes Narayana Health Insurance stand out is that it is backed by the prominent Narayana hospital chain. This can feel promising, as the insurer benefits from nearly 25 years of experience, especially in how hospitalization and claims work in the real world.
In this article, we will look at its performance, the plans it offers, along with their pros, cons, and premiums.
List of Plans Available With Narayana Health Insurance
Aditi Health Insurance
Narayana Aditi is a plan built to offer very high hospitalization cover at a relatively low cost, but it comes with a clear set of trade-offs. Launched in July 2025, its biggest plus is the large surgical cover of up to ₹1 crore which can be paired with a non-surgical cover ranging from ₹ 5 lakh to ₹20 lakhs, depending on the variant. It also includes consumables, day-care procedures, ambulance cover, and annual health check-ups.
Some waiting periods can also be removed on the basis of a medical checkup within 90 days of issuance in certain cases. On the flip side, it’s lower variants have restrictions like co-payments and general ward room cap if you get admitted outside the allowed network in certain cases.
Note: Network hospitals for Plan 1 and 2 are only available at some locations in Karnataka, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Jaipur, Guwahati, Jammu, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Raipur, and Howrah.
Arya Health Insurance
Launched in November 2025, Arya Health Plan is Narayana’s flagship plan. It gives you hospitalization cover from about ₹25 lakh up to unlimited cover, depending on the variant. On top of hospitalisation expenses, it also covers related expenses like doctor consultations, tests, and medicines. You’ll also find perks like “One Health Promise” that may refund your premium (minus GST and certain charges) if you undergo surgery, personalised support from care managers and family physicians. Just like Aditi, restrictions like co-payments and general ward limits can be there if you get admitted outside the allowed network in certain cases.
Note: Narayana health insurance also offers group health insurance options like Narayana group health insurance and Arya group health insurance to organizations.
Plan Comparison
Note: A pre-policy medical checkup is mandatory across all Narayana retail health insurance plans for all applicants aged over 60 years.
Sample Premiums
Note: The premiums mentioned above are for a ₹1 crore cover for a family living in Bengaluru.

Ditto’s Take on Narayana Health Insurance
With a gross written premium (GWP) of just ₹2.37 crore in FY 2024-25, Narayana Health Insurance is still a very new entrant in the health insurance space. They handled only 12 claims with no complaints, as per their FY 2024-25 public disclosure. While it has reported a claim settlement ratio of 100% for FY 2024–25, there is no publicly published data yet on its incurred claims ratio in the latest IRDAI annual report. The lack of long-term claims data, along with a small network of around 2,400 hospitals (vs. 10,000+ recommended by Ditto) even in higher variants, makes it difficult for us to confidently recommend the insurer at this stage.
The plans, while comprehensive, do not offer any benefits which cannot be found in other plans from insurers with better track records.
Conclusion
Narayana Health Insurance, though backed by a large hospital group, is still a relatively new insurer with a limited track record so far. While the plans are priced competitively, they often come with several conditions around where and how claims can be made e.g. There can be a co-payment of up to 30% in cases of non-intimation for claims at a non-network hospital. This may lead to higher out-of-pocket expenses in some situations.
If you are considering a Narayana Health Insurance plan, it is a good idea to compare it with other options and read the terms and conditions carefully, so there are no surprises later.
